BSMART’s Educational Consulting

BSMART provides educational consulting services and professional development to promote brain development and learning readiness by addressing developmental, emotional and economical barriers to academic success.

BSMART Educational Consultants advise and assist schools with the implementation and integration of S.M.A.R.T. neurodevelopmental approaches into the school setting and/or classroom. There has been an explosion of brain research and how brain function relates to how a child performs in the classroom. S.M.A.R.T. is one of the few programs that actually shows teachers how to take that brain research and apply it in their classrooms.

At BSMART we have had tremendous success at directly helping students to learn despite various challenges they may have. But we don’t want to stop there.

We know that there are numerous children in your schools who could benefit from our services.

We recognize that schools and teachers often provide for these children, but want to do more and could do more if they had access to our level of expertise with the complex readiness needs. We believe we have found a great solution: Sharing.

Sharing our knowledge and best practices through our S.M.A.R.T. Consultative Services

Through our innovative programming BSMART can provide expert training and support directly to your school. And it’s not starting from scratch; we use proven developmental educational techniques and tools to build upon your existing knowledge and practices.

S.M.A.R.T. (Stimulating Maturity through Accelerated Readiness Training) integrative training provides staff development in brain maturation, neuro-stimulation principles, pre-academic and academic applications, sensory processing, research documentation for effectiveness with four-to-eight-year-old children and remedial applications for older students. Our S.M.A.R.T. Programming can be implemented within any existing curricula.

SMART is a powerful general enrichment program for regular students, but it provides extraordinary compensatory benefits to students in the lowest half or third of development and achievement when used for more than one school year. Schools with special needs and groups of students qualifying for learning support, special education, occupational, physical, and speech therapy, or those with intellectual and/or developmental readiness deficits readiness stand to reap a substantial benefit from a SMART implementation in Day Care, Preschools, Primary 1& 2, summer programs, home schools, and after-school programs.  Participation of regular students enhances normal skill levels to superior levels.

S.M.A.R.T. affects the traditional academic areas of language development, second language exposure, pre-reading, early and primary reading, pre-math, early arithmetic and primary arithmetic, pre-writing (pre-printing) and printing/writing, physiologic readiness, coordination and attention.

Benefits of Implementing S.M.A.R.T. with Your School

  1. Benefits all children -- from those who struggle to those already at or beyond grade level.

  2. Cost Savings. All students gain exposure to numerous techniques and therapies that are usually implemented by various therapeutic specialists. S.M.A.R.T. incorporates many aspects of these programs within your already existing curricula and can be delivered with the frequency and repetition needed to bring about measurable results.

  3. More knowledgeable educators. The understanding of neurodevelopmental education enabling teachers to identify and target students who have not developed these skills along with the knowledge of what to do to help them.

  4. Immediate Implementation. S.M.A.R.T. can be used with any existing curricula.

  5. Better understanding of students. Teachers can understand the basics of neurodevelopment and related abilities, skills and behavior. Teachers typically see children in a sociological context, and the basic biological/neurological context (as is S.M.A.R.T.) provides a new world of deeper insights and tools for serving the best interests of children.

  6. Bridging Health and Education. Currently, there is a disconnect between the health system (therapy) and education. This is a huge factor in that there are many physiological issues that are the foundation of learning problems. Melding the two creates a better informed teacher who is better able to understand, identify, and target neurodevelopmental readiness skill deficits that impede student success.

  7. Continuity. Students miss out when therapists (who operate on a 12 month schedule) take vacation and staff development days during the school year.

  8. Addressing developmental, academic, and learning challenges of your young people brings about better outcomes. When using nationally normed measures on students across the state and nation, the results have shown that students who participate in S.M.A.R.T. outperform those who do not participate in S.M.A.R.T.
